At minimum, these are the critical areas any senior NDIS personnel should be across:

Governance and Compliance

Strategic Planning and Service Delivery

  • Identify and prioritize top operational bottlenecks

  • Integrate quality and compliance checkpoints into daily workflows

  • Develop a strategic plan that guides day-to-day decision making. If you don’t have one, feel free to have a chat with one of the Effective Policy consultants.

  • Establish a service delivery model that ensures effective and impactful reach to clients.

Workforce Management and Development

  • Implement a leadership development program combining disability care expertise with business acumen. Here is an example of a workforce professional development platform.

  • Create succession plans for critical roles, including operations and compliance

  • Develop comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract and retain skilled support workers.

Technology and Data Management

  • Adopt NDIS-specific platforms for rostering and claims processing.

  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (e.g., participant satisfaction, staff turnover), Inayah Consulting is able to assist with custom designs at reasonable prices

  • Automate critical compliance workflows (e.g., worker credential tracking). Inayah is also a fantastic option for assistance.

 Financial Planning and Risk Management

  • Develop a budget accounting for operational expenses, growth initiatives, and contingencies. If you don’t have an accountant yet, may we recommend The Good Numbers (Samantha Perez)

  • Establish a rapid-response fund for unplanned audits or investigations

  • Conduct regular simulations of high-risk scenarios (e.g., staff shortages, participant emergencies)

Continuous Improvement and Participant Engagement

  • Conduct quarterly “scaling health checks” to assess service quality and staff wellbeing, refer Effective Policy NDIS Provider Scaling Checklist (coming soon).

  • Review the strategic plan annually, aligning with NDIS reforms. If you don’t have a strategic plan, you should have one.

  • Implement systems for capturing and acting on participant feedback.

By focusing on these critical areas, senior staff can ensure their NDIS business is well-positioned for compliance, growth, and delivering high-quality services to participants.
