Changes to How NDIS Service Cancellations Can Be Managed

NDIS Cancellation changes – there has been a change to how cancellations can be charged in the new NDIS pricing arrangements for 2024-2025. If you provide NDIS services, please note that the changes impact you, even if your service agreement says something different.

For DSW (Disability Support Worker) support, a 7-day notice can still be considered a short notice cancellation, and you can be charged 100% of the shift cost if the provider can not find alternative billable work – this is the same as last year.

For non-DSW supports, the new short notice cancellation period is 2 days notice, and you can be charged 100% of the shift cost if the provider can not find alternative billable work for the worker – this is different from last year.

The pricing arrangements outline which line items attract a 2 or 7-day short-notice cancellation. At a glance, supports such as Assistance with personal domestic activities, assistance with household tasks – cleaning and house or yard maintenance, nursing support, all therapy supports, Level 2 & 3 Support Coordination Employment assessment, counselling and advice, Behaviour Support, and Exercise Physiology/Dietician.

This is new for many providers but will also be an area for extra scrutiny over the next few months. Expect cancellation charges are the focus of the increased invoice auditing the NDIS is undertaking.

This is a hard and fast rule – the NDIS pricing arrangement change impacts all providers of Agency and Plan managed supports and if you offer services that did have a 7-day cancellation period that is now a 2-day period you need to take note.
